Feb. 17th
2008. The river is at 800cfs and holding until further notice. The fishing is
just now getting to be enjoyable as it has been quite a cold and windy
winter. The air temps are starting to move upwards these days. The guides
that have been fishing recently have been throwing woolly buggers with good
success. The fish have been chasing virtually all colors this time of year.
The nymphs that have been working are your basic midge nymph and emerger
patterns in dark colors. This is standard for the Green in the winter time. I
also like the grey RS2, burgundy WD40s and the blood worm or blood midge. All
nymph sizes are in the 20s. If you can find a nice sunny day during a high
pressure there will be a good midge hatch down at Little Hole. You’ll be able
to stick some fish on the surface with Griffiths Gnat, Adams, double midge
and other little fuzz ball patterns.
Spring is just around the corner, see you
soon.
